Chief Executive Officer
Stephen currently serves as CEO of FreedomPop, the highly publicized disruptive mobile broadband start-up. In this capacity, Stephen leads all aspects of company development including product innovation, customer acquisition and partner alliances. Prior to FreedomPop, Stephen served as Woo Media's CEO where he headed one of the Internet's fastest growing and most innovative interactive video companies. Under Stephen's leadership, Woo Media built a multi-million dollar revenue stream, raised $19 million in venture capital, and was successfully sold in November 2011.
Stephen also served as British Telecom's VP of Strategy and Product Development through 2007. At BT, he generated over $500 million in new wave revenue putting BT in the forefront of online communications, digital media and open Wi-Fi. Stephen started his career with Accenture then left to co-found JustWhatiWant.com, profitably sold in 2000. Stephen also worked in venture capital and was Director of eCommerce for Qwest Communications.
He holds two graduate degrees, an MBA from UC Berkeley and a Masters in Finance from London Business School.
Chief Operating Officer
Steven Sesar currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for FreedomPop, where he leads all monetization, customer acquisition, site conversion, and retention efforts. Steven is a seasoned technologist, internet executive, and entrepreneur with 15 years experience with a primary focus on consumer internet products. Prior to FreedomPop, Steven served as VP Marketing & Revenue for Woo Media, Inc., an online interactive video platform with multiple consumer properties across web, Facebook, and mobile platforms, and he was responsible for driving over 10 million registered users and developing a multi-million dollar revenue stream. Steven also previously led the business development efforts for Shopzilla, the Internet's leading comparison-shopping engine that was acquired by E.W. Scripps in 2005 for $585 million. Steven played an integral role in positioning Shopzilla for acquisition, brokering partnerships with leading media and technology companies including AOL, Viacom, HP, Lycos and Synacor. In 2006, Steven's role was expanded to lead consumer acquisition initiatives, where he leveraged innovative marketing practices resulting in significant revenue uplift. Steven started his career with Arthur Andersen's Business Consulting group, where he served as the Technology, Media and Communications industry expert for the Los Angeles office and helped grow the business into a multi-million dollar unit. Steven holds an MBA from UC Berkeley and a BS from UCLA.
Chief Technology Officer
Scott currently serves as Chief Technology Officer for FreedomPop. In his role, Scott is responsible for all aspects of technology and solution delivery.
Prior to FreedomPop, Scott was VP of Engineering at Tap11, where he managed product engineering, system infrastructure, and IT— building a powerful analytics platform for doing real-time business intelligence around social media. Tap11 was sold to AVOS, started by YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen.
Prior to Tap11/AVOS, Scott was the VP of Engineering at Zannel, Inc., where he managed the development and systems teams building a mobile oriented social network with video transcoding and streaming, real-time media feeds, advanced alerting, and mobile ad delivery and aggregation services. Before Zannel, he served as Director of Technology for Infospace's mobile division, where he led the development of a direct-to-consumer mobile content site and played a central role in establishing their mobile technology strategy and architecture. Scott also served as Director of Technology at AG Interactive where he headed direct-to-consumer mobile technology initiatives for internal and external partners including Univision, Def Jam, and the AGI mobile content platform.
Vice President, Product
Mauricio Sastre currently serves as the Vice President of Product for FreedomPop. In his role, Mauricio sets the product vision and strategy for the company's web and mobile products and oversees the company's product road map and execution. In addition, Mauricio leads all aspects of wireless device innovation and manufacturing. A seasoned veteran, Mauricio has over 13 years of internet product and technology experience.
Prior to joining FreedomPop's executive team, Mauricio served as VP of Product at venture- backed start-up Cocodot where he helped pivot the online invitation site into a product-focused E-commerce offering. Prior to Cocodot, Mauricio served as Director of Product at Shopzilla, Inc. — the premier portfolio of online shopping brands in the U.S. and Europe. During his 10 year tenure there, Mauricio was a key contributor to the company's success as he filled various leadership and management roles in technology, marketing operations, and product development. Before Shopzilla, Mauricio began his career as a software engineer and project manager at award-winning digital marketing agency Enlighten.
Mauricio holds a BS in Business Administration with emphasis in Information Systems from the University of Southern California.
Vice President, Operations and Consumer Experience
Chris currently serves as the Vice President of Operations and Consumer Experience for FreedomPop, where he is responsible for development and implementation of the best consumer experience and the most efficient operation practices across all business units. Chris joins FreedomPop with over a decade of extensive product development experience spanning across telecommunications, mobile gaming, digital video networks and content publishing.
Before FreedomPop, he was Head of Mobile and New Platforms at Machinima, a top online video network worldwide. Prior to that, Chris worked at Electronic Arts as Director, Product Management, responsible for global direct to consumer solutions. Chris started his career at Ericsson Wireless, a world leading telecom equipment provider, where he worked through Sales and Marketing organizations with main focus on international markets.
Chris holds Master's degree from UC San Diego, and Bachelor's degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
